Bon Sawyer
Hi all, I'm toying with the idea of having my K3's lens mount changed, most likely to a Nikon mount. (I am aware of the limitations of using a Nikon mount for cine use, but I am favouring it due to the lack of cine lenses available to rent where I am based.) It'll be some time before I actually do it, but I'm just wondering which places do lens mount changes, and have a good reputation? I know Reel Trading used to specialise in Nikon conversions for K3's, but I haven't had any luck contacting them. I am based in Australia, but would be willing to send overseas. Thanks, Bon
Guest Ian Marks
I'd check first with Aranda, who are in Australia and already perform very impressive conversions - changing your mount would probably be easy for them. However, if your K3 already has the M42 "Pentax" mount (most do), why not just buy lenses in that mount? They're inexpensive and plentiful. Bon Sawyer
Thanks Ian, I should have thought of Aranda, having spoken to Bruce about something else a few months ago. I have a few M42 lenses already- hence why I am not in a real hurry to do the conversion (in addition to the fact that I don't want to spend too much on my K3, given its inherent limitations). But a Nikon would provide more (and better) options for me. They're certainly easier to rent locally. I also dislike swapping screw-mount lenses on the K3. Cheers, Bon
dd3stp233
You don't have to have a lens mount conversion, you could just buy an adapter. I've seen Nikon to m42 adapters as well as many others for sell.

Bon Sawyer
Yeah, the ones I have seen that allow the reverse are either macro-only or teleconverters with extra glass (due to the difference in registration distance between the two mounts). Thanks for the suggestion, though. Bon
James Ewen
There is a guy in australia selling a K3-Nikon mount on ebay right now. Could be what you need... http://stores.ebay.co.uk/This-Is-Not-A-Toy
