Leo Anthony Vale
Does the "M1" designation on an Angenieux prime lens mean anything? ---It refers to the design of the lens. I no longer have an old list of angie lenses, but Type R are retrofocus, Most zooms are Type L, Type S is a double Gauss, like Baltar and Speed Panchro. Some longer lenses types are P and Y. Of course there's a number for the specific design. 28/3.5 is R 21, 10/1.8 is R 11. 135/3.5 is Type Y2, while the 90/1.8 is P1. The two retrofocuses have a similar design, while the two longer lenses have different design. ---LV
