Premium Member Tim O'Connor Posted June 16, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted June 16, 2006 I have a shot with two guys walking and talking for about a hundred feet into a close-up - day ext./wireless mics. I'm thinking about using a hard reflector and panning/tilting to soften it as they approach. Any thoughts? Thanks.
James Steven Beverly
At a hundred feet the foil side should work great on a sunny day. The silver side might be ok too, it just depends on how overcast it is on the day of the shoot. I would probably avoid gold refectors or the checkerboards unless your going for a warmer look. Premium Member Michael Nash Posted June 16, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted June 16, 2006 Shiny boards are pretty "spotty" and don't feather the edge all that well, even on the soft side. When I've used reflectors for long walk-and-talks like this I've used several spread out along the length of the walk, overlapping a little to smooth the transition. As they get closer to camera you can smooth the edge of the beam with single or double siders, and blend that gently into a softer bounce that's up close.
