12kw bulb orientation

I'm getting all kinds of 12kw s/e HMI bulbs coming back from set burnt out.

 

I know that the bulb is to go into the head with the internal bar down, but I'm looking for documentation so that I can show the electrics and save them some money.

 

I'm pretty positive that this is what the problem is, I have measured the o/p voltage on the mag ballast, and if anything it is a bit low.
