Rhonda L. McReynolds
I just picked up a wonderful looking Nikon 8x Super Zoom at a yard sale - no dents, scratches, or visible wear of anykind. Lens is perfect. Original manual with warranty card that doesn't even have a crease. However, it doesn't seem to power-up. I have loaded the batteries (checking for polarity) and put the handle in the locked position. Nothing. <_< Does anyone have suggestions for tracking down the problem before I try to locate a repair shop? Thanks for your help!
Todd Darling
I bought the same camera a little while ago. I had to really scrub the battery contacts with a green scouring pad. They are copper in color when I got the camera they looked greyish. Once I got them scrubbed dpwn real good it started right up. Also the camera should work with the handle up or down. Rhonda L. McReynolds
I was told the handle had to be in the locked position so the batteries were grounded. Glad to know that ain't so! Thanks for the tip. I will clean-up the contacts. Maybe I have a short in a wire somewhere.
