Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 23, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted July 23, 2004 You should read a basic photography book on the effects of color contrast filters (red, orange, yellow, green, etc.) on b&w film, although these are more useful outdoors than inside where contrast can be controlled with lighting. Color filters affect what shade of gray some colors will render - for example, reddish filters cancel blue wavelengths and thus make blue skies darker and red tones lighter. Polas do the same thing in b&w as color. Same with diffusion filters.
