Delorme Jean-Marie
Hi all Each decade in lightings has his own style. What films and cinematographers are for you, the style of the 90's and What could be the style of the years 2000 ?
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted September 24, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted September 24, 2006 Khondji definitely defined the 90's as probably the most influential DP of that era. The 2000's are harder to call, but I'd say it's extremely naturalistic cinematographers like Savides, Lubezki.....

Delorme Jean-Marie
hi I agree on Khondji and Deakins, 2 differents styles but the "look" of the 90's. For the naturalistic image i'm found of Barry ackroyd's work on his drama-documentary films with Ken loach. Did the 90's had one style like the other decades or is it the begining of a "multi-style" period. You understood i was talking about feature film vs to commercials. What is your opinion
Premium Member Chad Stockfleth Posted September 28, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted September 28, 2006 Perhaps with media becoming more and more accessible we are seeing a wider variety of styles appearing, but I would say that each decade always had a variety of styles, some becoming predominant. Maybe now, as in music, we are starting to see amalgamations of lots of styles. One genre borrows from the next, one region borrows from the next. Homogenization will eventually have a backlash, i think, whereby people will return to their regional roots. It's nice that there are so many avenues to pursue and so many tools with which to pursue them.
