Douglas Hunter
Greetings, My production company does a holliday musical special for broadcast each year. Typically the show is a 7 camera digibeta shoot with all audio and video sent out to a truck where the isos are recorded. Pretty standard stuff. This year the EPs want to shoot on 30p. My assumption is that is no problem we just shoot on the SDX900 in 30p mode but can send a converted 29.97DF interlaced signal out the camera's SDI port to a traditional SD truck, where we can record to digibeta or any other SD format we choose. Is it this simple or am I missing something such as additional engeneering that might be necessary or other issues? thanks in advance for any input -Douglas
Premium Member John Ealer Posted October 10, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted October 10, 2006 Yes, it is that simple. When the camera is in 30P mode, the progressive frames are segmented and slowed down .1% and output (DV50 compressed to the VTR or uncompressed to SDI) as 59.94i, which can be recorded to Digibeta at that point.
