Bjarne Eldhuset
Hi, I have found a sankor 16f lens on a flea market, and i was wondering wether it is a lens that can be used for widescreen shooting? I have seen that there are sankor 16 lenses from A to F - what is the difference between them. Are there some that can be used for anamorphic and some that can't? Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway. By the way, which camera below 100 bucks would you guys recommend for attaching this lens to? I have a nikon r10, a nizo pro and a beaulieu zm4, but all of them have zoom lenses with long focal length. So I guess they're not suitable? On the other hand, i do have a canon 310, but it seems a bit too small and plastic'y to attach anything at all to. Further, probably a very stupid question... When I have shot the film, and had it processed and telecined, and get it back, how do I get it to show in widescreen? Are there some things I have to tell the telecine company, or and so on... As you can guess, I'm don't quite get the theory part of all this yet. But thats where you mentors come in! Hope you have some advice, as I would like to do some christmas filming in cinemascope! Regards, Bjarne, Oslo, Norway.
Gianni Raineri
Use them wind up Russian super 8 cameras the Zenit Quarz 1x8S-1's or Zenit Quarz 1x8S-2's, or the 8mm Quartz M's (or DS8-M) which have removable lenses... Gotta make a support bracket yourself.. Also any other super 8 with a lens that's small enough around (52-48mm filter ring) to mate with the sankor, but you' may need to set the zoom to 20-25mm. http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Category:Zenit_Quarz Next flea market look for any of the super cheap "disposable" cameras with fake lens cowlings, remove it and replace it with your Sankor. The Halina Super 8 is a good example, it's made of metal, an optical lens, and even gotz manual exposure control (waterhouse stops) of f1.8 to f22, fixed focus. http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Halina_Super_8 A few other embarrasing cameras to use with cheap lenses but manual f stops cameras are: http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Boots_Comet_121 http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Mupi_Zeta_1 http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Plus_Super_8 To project the anamorphic film, you stick that very same lens onto the projector to unsqueeze the compressed image out onto the screen. You can experiment and telecine the squeezed image onto 4:3 video, then display it onto a wide screen 16:9 monitor. Gianni
