Valentina Caniglia
I recently saw the film Northfolk in Italy and I really would like to congratualate with the cinematographer David Mullen who did a great job! I thought it was had a unique look. The lighting and the composition were really good. I would like to know more about the techinical info. Does anyone of you knows what kind of stock has been used? If there was any special treatment done to the stock? What kind of filtration has been used? How the bluish cold feeling was achieved? Thanks Valentina
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 8, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted August 8, 2004 Thanks for compliment! You can read about it in the forum archives from 2002 (I posted a weekly diary while shooting it) and in 2003 (when it was released). Also, you can read the article that Michael Nash wrote for this website: http://www.cinematography.com/articles/northfork/ Also, here is another article that appeared in the Fuji Exposure magazine, UK edition (go to the article titled "Shades of Gray") The issue is stored as a PDF file. http://www.motion.fuji.co.uk/misc/exposure.html I also wrote a short article in the front section of the May 2003 issue of American Cinematographer. If these don't answer your questions, feel free to ask me anything specific.
