"Set Lighting Technician's Handbook" by Harry Box

Hey everyone,

 

I just added this book to my "Christmas list". Do any of you DP's who have read it regard it as a valuable resource and filmmaking reference? Is this something I should definitely have in my library?

It is probably the best book on real world lighting I have read.

 

Its technical information is great, but so is the set electrician?s etiquette section. It has lots of information that you would not have unless you spent the time on set learning it; an excellent book.

Like Jonathan I too got it for Christmas. I wish I had gotten it months ago, it's an invaluable resource and reference book well worth the $30.

It's one of the few books that I recommend to EVERYONE. Not only is it invaluable to have in my library... it's been invaluable to have in my bag on set as well.

I like to describe it as "the book that tells you everything you already know, but the proper way of doing it"

 

The tables alone make the book worth purchasing.
