I haven't seen "Manchurian Candidate" yet, so I can't say. Out of that list, skipping the last one, I'd say that "Silence of the Lambs" for framing and "Devil in a Blue Dress" for lighting. But he's remarkably consistent; they are all successful at what they set out to accomplish.

What about "Badlands", his first DP credit?

I really enjoyed the lighting on Silence of the Lambs and Six Sense. I also liked Signs because I have been reading about low light cinematoraphy and the night scenes fields and the basement scenes were, at least for me, very good. Notice a pattern ? they deal with intense dramatic movies, which the lighting specailly in Silence, the way he brought out Hannibal was super intense.

I liked Ferris Bueller, but didn't really payed too much attention to the cinematography as I really enjoyed the movie for its comedic overtone than for anything else, and of course Mia Sarah B)

Cheers,

C.

I viewed the Manchurian Candidate tuesday evening in Camp Hill,

PA. I think its a fine film,it was interesting to see Meryl Streep in

the evil character role but she was most excellent as usual. I have

some problems with the way the story was told. But who am I? I

think the camera did an excellent job,the lighting was superb and it

told the story. I am a fan of the cinematographer,I like his work!

I do want to hear though what Mr. Tony Brown thinks about the film.

He's one of my favorite dp's too,I viewed some of his work last eve-

ing. Tony, can I come to the U.K. for two weeks fetch coffee for you

and attempt to learn how a motion picture camera works? I'm an old

man and running out of time! My favorite scene in Manchurian Candidate

is where Denzel Washington is in the bathroom standing in front of the

mirror. The camera is on the floor looking up at him and you see a

frontal close-up and I believe you can see the rear portion of his head

reflected in the mirror. I just want you all to know how much I apprec-

iate this forum and I'm thankful for the contributions of so many fine

professionals.
