Niklas
I'm thinking about buying a JVC BR-D80E Camcorder together with a JVC DY-90 Videocamera. The format is Digital S (I think it's referred to as D-9 nowadays). I have a Canpous DV Storm card in my 2 GHz PC. Is there any way to get the Digital Signal from the Camcorder (which of course doesn't have firewire out) into my computer that has firewire in? If there's any kind of converter for example? SDI to Firewire, since I prefer not going via SVHS to SVHS, which otherwise could be a possability. By the way, I fully understand that I wouldn't be using the Digital S capabilities to a maximum by doing this, but I can't afford more expensive editing equipment right now and we get those things for a good price, and I want a better camera. :) Any suggestions at all? Sam Wells
I've used the little Miranda box to go from DigiBeta SDI to Firewire & DVCam/miniDV, seems to work well. (I confess I know zilch about D-9 format) -Sam
Premium Member Luke Prendergast Posted August 17, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted August 17, 2004 Blackmagic have a very cheap SDI IO card - the Decklink Probably as cheap as a converter would be.
Jason McKelvey
Get an SDI input card... By the way, our church had Digital-S for a while, but it was very unreliable and so we dropped it and went to DVCPRO50. For what it's worth. Jason
