i was doin animation in 35mm with he resolution 2048/1736.......

now when i went to reverse tlecine my latest work they said that only 1838/1556 is needed....

 

 

wats the correct resolution of the film?????

is there any quality loss in 1838/1556

"2K" is 2048 is 35mm full aperture (silent) and 1828 is 35mm Academy / 1.85 / anamorphic aperture (sound) -- in other words, when you make room for the soundtrack area on the left of the frame, the image is only 1828 pixels wide.

 

1556 is the vertical height for 4-perf 35mm full aperture at "2K".

 

In other words, they plan on only recording out to 35mm an 1828 x 1556 image, which will probably be cropped further vertically by the projector mask, so you also need to know the projection aspect ratio.
