Eugene Lehnert
What kind of smoke machine do you use to get good volumetric lighting? I've been doing my own low-budget shoots using a cheap water-based smoke machine (something you would use at a halloween party) to create some atmosphere in a scene. The smoke does not hang in the air creating the shafts of light that I would like. What type of smoke machine would do this?
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted February 26, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted February 26, 2007 A cracked oil machine or a hazemaker. They're readily available for rent at any lighting house.
Premium Member Tony Brown Posted February 26, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted February 26, 2007 Legalities vary from country to country on this.... many places will not allow cracked oil now as it leaves a residue. Cant beat an Artem but dont burn the place down......
robert duke
you want a hazer, not a fogger. you might be able to create it using a pro fogger on the lowest volume setting and letting it run continuously. but a Hazer is what you want. LeMaitre makes a great hazer as does Martin and MDG. your local Rocknroll lighting rental place should have one.
