Liam Dale
Hey all, I am wondering if anyone can point me to any books or resources that discuss theories on visual aesthetics. These might be more intended for painters, illustrators, whomever, but I figure such theory would be applicable to film as well.
Nick Mulder
Aesthetics as a branch of philosophy is and will probably be a work in progress for the remainder of human history (a philosophical debate in itself there) - as such, there are literally thousands of books on the topic already... Its something that deeply interests me also, I studied a bit of epistemology and ethics at uni but wish instead I had done at least one aesthetics course I wouldn't know where to begin in recommending this or that book, but simply suggest you start somewhere/anywhere and follow your nose from there ... I suspect you'd get more joy from a library than making outright purchases ... I suppose there's always this - which turned up when I searched for 'Aesthetics For Dummies' at Amazon :P
