Matthew Buick
...Is fresh Cellulose Nitrate film still made? Thank you for answering this rather unorthadox question. Best Regards - Matthew Buick. :)
Matthew Buick
EDIT: I just read up on it, it finished in 1951. PHEW!!! I found some mysterious film in my loft, I have a feeling it's 9.5mm. Will this be made out of safety film?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted March 31, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted March 31, 2007 According to these sites, 9.5mm was always an amateur format using safety film. http://www.oldfilm.org/nhfWeb/ed/03Symp/03Symp_Kattelle.htm http://members.aol.com/Super8mm/ServicesPage6.html http://www.nmpft.org.uk/insight/info/5.3.34.pdf
Matthew Buick
DOUBLE PHEW!!! My great-grandad did a lot of shooting in the 1970's, but I was under the impression that 9.5mm was from the 20's, 30's and 40's. That's a relief, the film in in absolutely perfect condition, which made me worry that it was Nitrate.
Christian Appelt
All sub-35mm formats were produced on safety base, except for very early 17.5mm formats that were cut down from 35mm stock.
