Robert Glenn
I practice loading an NPR mag but there's a little spring pin inside the mag that seems to snag on the sprocket holes. What is it? The stabilizer pin?

The stabilizer pin? Its the registration pin, it provides a stable image.
Premium Member Bernie O'Doherty Posted May 17, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted May 17, 2007 It's the noisemaker. If the loop is lost, the streched, out-of-kilter film loop is grabbed at the perfs by the spring-loaded clackety-clack widget. Even in loud, industrial filming situations, the loop loss is quite audible.
