Curtis Bouvier
The cheap method is Karo syrup and red food coloring. Messy. You need to add brown coco powder, this stops the blood from being transparent, blood is not transparent. and when the blood dries it leaves a VERY realistic brown residue left over that sort of crumbles like real blood. it also gives it a darker red look than the bright red look standard food coloring delivers. I spread a bunch of this out in the snow after using it for a school assignment short and the neighbors thought some one died out front of our house haha!, pretty funny. Premium Member Chris Keth Posted July 1, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted July 1, 2007 The guy who did all the practical effects for a zombie movie I shot used a full bottle of karo syrup, a drop of blue food coloring, a teaspoon of chocolate milk powder, and add red food coloring (it'll be a lot) to suit. When he did it it was a 5-gallon quantity but this was the approximate proportion.

Alex Wuijts
Hey Mark, For a photoshoot I just went to a professional make-up store. They had little plastic bottles of all kinds of fake blood. Dark, light, edable etc. Check out this website: http://www.kryolan.com/en/Products/Pro/FX/Blood/Blood.htm Maybe not what you're looking for, but it might help. Kenn Christenson
Concentrated cherry Hawaiian punch worked well for me. On film, it read quite nicely.
