Fulgencio Martinez
hi, I need to shoot a very far overhead shot. All i have used before is a scorpio head with a 13m arm. I feel for this shoot it might not be enought as i need to set the camera at least at 10 meters high and completely perpendicular to the ground. I´ve seen systems based on wires for football match. Do you know this systems? Anyone has experience with them? is there any other options for this shot? thanks
Jonathan Bowerbank
It's called Skycam. Mainly used for sports but it has been used in a few films. One that comes to mind is a shot from "Terminal" that starts on Tom Hanks' closeup then trucks out through a large airport lobby. There are other cable systems that are mainly for vertical camera movements if that's all you need.
Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted July 27, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted July 27, 2007 If you don't need to move the camera during the shot you could use a cherry picker. Here's an example of a very high overhead shot that rises up that was done using a pulley system with a steadicam operator attached. I'm sure it could be done sans steadicam. http://www.steadishots.org/shots_detail.cfm?shotID=
Fulgencio Martinez
Really i don´t need to move the camera. Just set it vertical and frame, but no movement
Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted July 28, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted July 28, 2007 A Condor or cherry picker will do the job.
