Qua;ity loss in Anamorphic lenses !!!

Try defining the problem a it more clearly - is the scope still squeezed ? what aspects ? Quality... as in resolution or perceived clarity or ... ??

 

Do you have any hypothesis/theory ?

 

Why do you need to know ? ;)

Film shot with anamorphic lenses and projected with a spherical projector lens will look horizontally squeezed 2:1. So any quality difference between anamorphic and spherical would be obscured by the squeeze anyway.

 

But aside from the squeeze the quality difference will depend on other factors like which lenses are used, shooting f-stops, and so on. Anamorphic photography uses a larger area of the negative than Academy 1.85:1 or Super 35 2.35:1, so it will usually look sharper and finer-grained in comparison.
