Premium Member Chris Keth Posted September 20, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted September 20, 2007 I like to pass on my own good gear finds an inventions so: A while ago my girlfriend replaced a makeup powder brush she kept in her purse. I got it before she tossed it and gave it a good wash in hot water and soap to get any face oil and residual powder out of it. I steamed it a bit to get the bristles back into shape. It's the best lens brush I've ever had! It's very soft and has it's own case to keep it clean and nice. It's about 3/4 of an inch in diameter adn there's a metal tube part that pulls up over the bristles to keep them from getting all out of shape and being pinched when you put the cap on. Here's one similar on ebay.
Premium Member David Regan Posted September 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 Yeah, the last job I worked on I was cleaning a lens and asked the AC if he had an air bulb on him to blow away dust, and to my surprise he instead handed me a similar makeup brush. Worked fairly well.

Premium Member Bill Totolo Posted September 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 I use something similar, but it's camel hair. Very fine.
Annie Wengenroth
That's a good call...gotta love an industry where it's socially acceptable for men to purchase massive quantities of nylon stockings, makeup brushes, and orangewood sticks... :P
