i know this might be a really stupid, seriously easy thing to achieve:

how do i shoot a really clean silhouette of a person?

You frame a totally unlit (or very underexposed) object against a bright background that allows the subject to creates a good cookie-cutter shape against the background, and then you expose so that the foreground subject goes black and the background is bright-ish or has a bright highlight near the black edges. Or do you mean a silhouette against white? In that case, you'd use a white background.
