Hemant Tavathia
I shoot a few short films a year when I'm not doing G&E work. I was hoping to get feedback on my 2007 reel and also on the overall quality of my Photography. Please view it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmJpV-jWAfc Thanks. Saul Rodgar
Not bad. I like the horror stuff in the middle. But it is all in the wrong aspect ratio. I would fix that, it is kinda weird for some one who is billing himself/ herself as a DOP to show material that it is in the wrong aspect ratio. Akin to a writer who shows a script with wrong spellings / typos . . . But that's just me. Edited April 27, 2008 by Saul Rodgar
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted April 27, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) Youtube cannot properly understand anamorphic uploaded files. For web stuff, I always export as 4:3 and let the NLE letterbox it so as to have as little a surprise from the .flv compression as possible. Overall, it looks ok, and by that I mean, it's hard to see ANYTHING through youtube compression. Try to get a better spot and a better compressed file to show people. I use blip.tv for my reel because i can hotlink to the .mov file (as in my signature) also, there is reel-exchange.com which seems to do alright with it's compression. Hemant Tavathia
You are right about the aspect ratio. I'll work on fixing that in my 2008 reel. I suck at the computer editing and outputting part. I'll also check out blip.tv to get some ideas.
Robert ODoul
I enjoyed it - I'd really shorten it to 1:30-2mins, max.
