tony powell
Wondering if anyone can help me with this question ? I have downloaded some depth of field data for the JVC GY-110 HD camera that has a Fujinon 16x zoom lens. The information specifies that it relates to an aspect ratio of 4:3. My question is, does the depth of field change if you shoot in 16:9, and if so why ? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

It may have a minor effect, but since the imager (CCD aspect ratio) is basically the same size, I would use the 4:3 stuff pretty much with impunity. (This is like shooting 16mm film in an SR-3 at 4:3 aspect ratio or shooting Super 16mm with the same camera) There is a slight change of dept of field because of the longer diagonal, but it is minimal, given the same circle of confusion and matching focal length.
