Richard Shane
I'm debating buying an Hpx3000 package instead of renting it from various dealers in Los Angeles. Naturally, it's a big purchase and I'm thinking of renting out the package to other DPs when opportunities present themselves. Since I'm not a dealer with a dealer's support structure, I would rent the package out at a discounted rate. So I'm wondering if others would find a rate of about $700 a day, including an ENG lens and p2 cards, to be enough of a motivator for people. What do you think? Would that motivate you to rent an hpx3000? It would motivate me, but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!
EJ Sadler
The best price we've found for a 3000 is $1000 for body only with 4 AB Hytron 140s. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to rent this out on a regular basis if you can get the word out and you're reliable. Just make sure you've factored in the cost of having the appropriate insurance coverage for being in the rental business.
Mitch Gross
You should consider buying a camera and then placing it with a rental house on sub-rental for them to work for you. They do all the administrative and maintenance work and you usually split the income 50/50.
