Dan Salzmann
Greetings all, The very poorly constructed Sekonic case for my Sekonic 508C has been held together by gaffer tape for awhile now and I would like to replace it with a form fitting leather case. Any ideas as to where I can find one? I would also consider a very heavy duty cordura case if it was well constructed.
Carlos M. Icaza
Dan, I use Pelican, the 1200 series is good... I have #1120 for my Sekonic and I can add a spare meter if I ever need to. I also have it in Bright Yellow so that it doesn't get confused with the other black cases I have. And I can always say, look in the yellow case; it is easy to identify. C.- [edit] Oh and it has the foam and water proof and I carved out a nice fit for the meter. The case can be treated pretty rough. [2nd edit] Look in http://www.pelican.com Edited November 2, 2004 by Carlos M. Icaza
Dan Salzmann
In fact I'm looking for a case for my belt. A holster if you will.
Carlos M. Icaza
Ah ! In that case, they have this nifty pocket digital camera cases you can get at Ritz or Wolfe for around $19.95 there that could do the trick. Also, Pelican has some that could do the trick as well... Dan Salzmann
As far as I can see Pelican does not make anything that one can wear on the waist. Does anyone know if there are any well made holsters for the Sekonic 508C?
Mitch Gross
There are a few different manufacturers. Check out filmtools.com for some heavy-duty nylon belt pounches. I think they sell the Lindecraft line.
Premium Member Michael Nash Posted November 3, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 3, 2004 The case for my meters always hold up fine -- it's the belt loop that always gets torn off. You'd think they'd learn by now to put more than ONE row of stitching on the belt loop.
Dan Salzmann
I hand sewed the belt loop with waxed thread but the flimsy Sekonic case literally started to come apart at the seams! Why don't the very with it folks at Portabrace do a line of meter cases? (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

Mitch Gross
Actually, PortaBrace will make custom cases for you. Just call them up and give them the dimensions. But it will prove far more expensive then getting something ready-made by another manufacturer. In New York you can go to B&H Photo and flip through the racks of various sized still camera belt pouches until you find one that's a good size. You may be able to browse these at b&hphotovideo.com.
