Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted July 6, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted July 6, 2008 Hey all, Someone sent this to me yesterday. Sounds pretty cool but very short notice, 12 days til the deadline. Apparently they're looking for something that's "not slick." I'm gonna try to whip something together next week if anyone is interested. Call for entries: The short subject we show every night before the show, "Dishes" turns 25 this year! As part of the celebration, we are asking local filmmakers to create your own version. This July, we celebrate our 28th birthday in our usual style with cake, flowers and a screening of our favorite movie: Harold and Maude. But it is also the 25th anniversary of our notorious short on proper theatre etiquette ? "Dishes" (see it here http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endid=91523793). If you have seen a movie at the Red Vic, you have seen "Dishes". It's arguably San Francisco's most played short with over 20,000 screenings in the past 25 years. Film lovers! We want to see your version of Dishes to help celebrate its birthday. Be creative with your entries! It can be an homage, spoof or update of the no-smoking/take out your dishes message. Today, extinguishing your cell phone might be a better idea than extinguishing your cigarette. Show us what you want to see on the screen! As far as specifics go: no entry fee required! Entries should be 60 to 90 seconds long for consideration in the shorts program. DVD, Beta, 16mm and 35mm (fingers crossed!) will be accepted but must ultimately have a digital copy available. Entries are due by Friday July 18th. A curated selection of entries received will be shown before the July 25th screening of Harold and Maude. One lucky short will be chosen to play before future digital presentations at the Red Vic!
Jonathan Bowerbank
Sounds like good fun. I'll give it a think and try to come up with something. Let me know if you already have an idea or two you wanna shoot :)
