PappasArts Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Here is the Sony usa press release on the HVR-Z1U http://news.sel.sony.com/pressrelease/5327 http://news.sel.sony.com/pressrelease/5331
Premium Member Christopher Bell Posted November 10, 2004 Premium Member Posted November 10, 2004 Interesting development. I was supprised to see the HVR-Z1U included 24p. I figured that Sony would not want to canibilize their F900 sales. I can hear the moans at the rental houses now who have invested and banked on business from the indie crowd. My first question is regarding the 24p feature. Is it true 24p or a pulldown like the DVX/ SDX/ XL2? Chris Bell
Premium Member Christopher Bell Posted November 10, 2004 Premium Member Posted November 10, 2004 Nevermind. Fom Camcorderinfo.com: "An issue arose at the press conference on whether or not the 24P mode on the HVR-Z1 was improved over the HDR-FX1. In the presentation Sony stated that the camcorder had 24 frames per second recording capability. However, after being pushed for a few minutes by questioners, they revealed that the 24 frames mode on the HVR-Z1 is the same as that of the HDR-FX1, meaning it will likely suffer from the same problems and artifacts, and not be considered "true" 24 progressive.." It appears that Sony does not want this camera to take sales away from HDCAM. Chris Bell
Premium Member Mark Sasahara Posted November 11, 2004 Premium Member Posted November 11, 2004 I got worried there for a moment. I can't see people getting too worked up about this. I'm not a fan of Sony's smaller sausage cam's form factor. I couldn't tell, is it 4:2:2 sampling or 4:1:1?
