Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted September 13, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted September 13, 2008 Hi, There were 2 versions a 16-42 & 30-80. Both priced at 14750 Euro. Both lenses were small & light, minimal breathing & distortion howerer both got darker as you zoomed in, the last 5mm on the wide lens & the last 10mm on the longer one. Both have a minimium focus distance 0.61m (2') & claimed max stop of T2.8. no ramping is claimed!. Both lenses weigh 1.9KG (4.2 lbs) As the lens is not suitable for film reflex cameras due to the extending rear element it's my guess Red originally asked Argenieux about making zooms for Red. Argenieux started to design the lens, realising it would be too expenive for Red requirements, and continued with the project on their own.
