Premium Member Kevin Masuda Posted September 18, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted September 18, 2008 I contacted Duall in NY and they said that they would modify my K3 to super 16 for $450 however they will not recenter the lens. Is there any company in the US that will do the re-centering as well as a mod to super 16?

Premium Member Kevin Masuda Posted September 19, 2008 Author Premium Member Share Posted September 19, 2008 Nevermind, I just realized that I could send the camera to Bernie at Super 16 inc.
Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted September 19, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted September 19, 2008 Bernie will do a great job. I highly recommend his laserbrighten process on the K3 as well. You can also buy a re-centered mount for the K3 on eBay for about $125. I'd suggest picking that up if you want the lens re-centered. It would cost more to have someone else make it. I got an email from Bernie and he said that it would cost me a lot to convert the K3 to Super 16 and is not something that he recommends doing. Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted September 26, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted September 26, 2008 I'm sure he's thinking that it will cost at least twice what the camera cost you to begin with so it's probably not worth it. I like having the extra negative space and it seems to make a difference but its been shown many times on this forum that modern stocks shot on regular 16mm then cropped to 16:9 do just fine. I would probably want to pick up another camera like a Scoopic MS before investing too heavily in modifying a K3.
