60-frame SMPTE timecode

Hi,

There are now a lot of cameras which are capable of shooting at rates higher than 30 frames per second. The SMPTE specification for linear timecode indicates that only two binary bits are allocated for the frames tens digit; ergo, it has a maximum value of three.

Can anyone fill me in on what the changes are to enable 60-frame timecode to happen? Did they finally assign the previously-unused bit 58 to this? I read that VITC uses the field marker to identify odd and even frames of 59.94fps video, but what of LTC?

Or do I just have to pony up the cash and buy the standard...
