Colin Rich
What are the differences between CCD and CMOS? What would one need to know about shooting on one chip vs the other? Are there even major differences? Is one generally preferable compared to the other? (Sorry if this topic has been discussed before, I did a search but didn't find any concise comparisons) Thanks! Matthew Buick
All very interesting. The amazing thing is CMOS sensor were almost unheard of in everything but cheap webcams and digital cameras five years ago. Now they're in top flight DSLR's and professional camcorders. The transformation in image quality and general acceptance is amazing. I do wonder if in another five years the venerable CCD will be dead, or dying at least.
