David Rakoczy
cont'd As far as shooting black skin goes.. whether it be 'african american', 'african european', 'african-african'...'jamaican'... 'african netherland'.. or whatever.. dark skin needs that extra punch no doubt. It naturally absorbs more light and reflects less. So, in a scene you may be netting your white, yellow, or red skinned talent down and giving your black skinned talent a little extra stop. One thing to be careful of is kickers and edgers on black skin... it can tend to look hard and glossy.. as it has more sheen... I prefer soft light kickers, edgers and backlights on black skin.
