Patrick Clement
So , I know the answer to my question already...no one makes 65mm step rings. But, why does NO ONE make them? I want a 65mm to 77mm step up ring for a lens attachment to my Som Berthiot 70 lens for my bolex. Answers? Solutions? ....appreciated.
Ira Ratner
Here's something that brings you from 65 to 72 for conventional round filter thread: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3106...mp_On_Step.html So now you just have to find a 72 to 77, which I'm sure is easy to find but I'm too lazy to find it myself right now and I want to have dinner. But what kind of attachment are you talking about? Edited December 5, 2008 by Ira Ratner

But what kind of attachment are you talking about? Thanks for the tip. The problem is that that clamp is for a 65mm exterior diameter. I am trying to adapt a Pan Cinor 70 (Som Berthiot) on my bolex. (see picture below) The lens is a 65mm and the exterior diameter is about 70mm. I would like to adapt either this Cokin Type Filter (more for mattes and vingetting) http://cgi.ebay.com/Filter-Holder-Adapter-...93%3A1|294%3A50 or this filter system: http://cgi.ebay.com/Filter-Holder-Adapter-...93%3A1|294%3A50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've dug long and deep for something that would work and I'm at a loss. The other issue being that the focus is controlled at the end of the lens, so anything that would be adapted would rotate as I focus. So weight and bulk can and will be an issue. Guest Glenn Brady
You might try http://www.srb-griturn.com/. They're cheaper than S. K. Grimes in my experience.
Ira Ratner
I am totally missing something here: The first link you posted is just the Cokin system, which I use. Why do you need a 65 to 77 step-up ring? Where does the 77 size come in?

Although I would be happy with ANY 65mm step up.... I cant find 65mm anything?!?!? Edited December 6, 2008 by Patrick Clement

I really give up here, because I'm understanding nothing the way you're explaining it: You can get a 65mm ring for the Cokin holder, or a 77, which takes the Cokin square/rectangular filters. So once again--what is the end game here with 77mm? I asked you before but can't seem to get an answer on this. What the f*** does the 77mm size have to do with any of this? Ira Ratner
NOW I get it: You want to use that gel holder, which is 77mm.
