8GB RED Card Transfers old "Ghost Clips"

I'm having a big problem with an 8 GB card. The footage I shot on it today plays back fine when previewing, but when trying to transfer it to computer, I'm being told that files on the card are from Dec. 22.

The card was re-formatted this morning and showed nothing out of the ordinary even after the shoot was over. Again, all the clips are played back fine when mounted to the RED.

When trying to make a disk image of the card, I get an error message that tells me that content is damaged. Again, all the files on the card are old-- i.e from two days ago.

Weird (kind of spooky in a ghostly way since the card was re-formatted and filled by clips shot today)

How can I save the media on this card?

How can I save the media on this card?

Email me at (deanan -a t- red).

If you can send us the card, we can try to recover the footage.

The cause is most likely a corrupt filesystem which can happen

on the computer or camera when the media is not safely unmounted

(pulled before ejecting, computer crashing, etc).

I was trying to remember where I'd seen your name before

Long time between drinks; your last post here was well over two years ago!

When did you stop working for Dalsa?

All this is probably old news over on Reduser, but my FNR (Forum Noise Reduction) algorithms aren't powerful enough to extract commercially useful amounts of information from there, at least, not in real time :P

A little over two years now.

Ah yes it all falls into place.

http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=458

"My impression of the camera and team was immensely better than what I was expecting...."

Pardon...?

Reminds me of my first day at Panavision Sydney (Sammys then) back in '88.

On being shown their fleet of batteries and chargers:

"Are you telling me ... you're actually RENTING this pile of poop?!

I thought you had all that stuff stacked up ready to take to the dump!"

(They had recently taken over another company, and were still in the process of sorting out stuff). You've never seen anything like the pile of ill-matched decrepit junk they had (or maybe you have... ).

On seeing their Betacam rental fleet, (which was what I was originally hired to maintain):

"What kind of @!%&*!! sheltered workshop have you been running here?"

On seeing one of their earlier attempts at a homemade video tap camera:

"What #$^@!*?? retarded chainsaw mechanic put this together?!"

("Sheltered Workshop" and "Chainsaw Mechanic" immediately entered the local PV vernacular:-)

I had actually applied for another job at the same time you see, which I was much more interested in, but I didn't get it. I remained with Sammys/Panavison for another 10 years and three months however.
