Premium Member Dan Goulder Posted February 4, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted February 4, 2009 Can anyone name any movies that were filmed either totally or mostly using Zeiss Variable Prime lenses? Thanks. (Tsotsi is one of them.)

timHealy
from what I recall Michael Balhaus used them on Uptown Girls. I think he owned the set and probably used them on most films he did recently. Best Tim
georg lamshöft
He used them on most of his projects starting with "Air Force One" - I think only "the Departed" was mostly shot with Master Primes.

Eyes Wide Shut used them. I noticed there are 2 on ebay for sale. I sold them to the guy for $10,500 for both lenses a couple of years ago. He's now wanting over $14,000 for each one. I told him if he changes his mind I'd gladly buy them back for the $10,500 I sold them for. Haven't heard back from him.

I don't know if these are as good as the ones you sold but here's 4 for 15K so far: http://cgi.ebay.com/Set-of-4-Zeiss-ARRI-Va...1QQcmdZViewItem Might be worth taking a look just in case they are. :)

Still a very good price for 4 Variable Primes mind you. They also look a bit more beat up than the ones I had.
