James Compton
Michael Jackson's music videos shaped music video history. From the smoked out sets of "Beat It" to horror film look of thiller to the noir-like "The Way You Make Me Feel". Many of them introduced ground breaking special effects to the music video world such as "Black or White". As a child of the 80's , I watched those early braodcast of MTV and BET, and was spellbound. I was blown away by his performances, but I found the cinematography, direction and art design equally dope. The KING has died. Rest In Peace, Brother. Guest Ronney Ross
Mike's mv's were short films I got a chance to see Im Bad( about 20 mins full version) which I haven't seen since I was a kid, when it came on Donnie Simpson's show on friday nights. Also heard an interview where Bob Johnson gave Mike credit for help BET get to the next level MTV was paying a royalty fee at the time BET was just starting out by renting time of another station but MJ had his record label and MTV to send copies of his new videos to play simultaneously with MTV but BET was never charge this royalty. Danny Haritan
Billie Jean has always been my favorite video. I just love the editing and how everything lights up, and especially the end in bedroom. Smooth Criminal comes in a close second.
