Premium Member Greg Gross Posted January 8, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted January 8, 2005 Hello John, I really got excited about the Kodak Look Manager when I read about Mr. Stephen Goldblatt ASC,using it for "Closer". Has Kodak done any stastistics to show cost effectiveness of using program? Can we think in terms of shaving a film's budget down by using program? As I under- stand it a DP could be just about anywhere in the world and through e-mail communicate with timer for appropriate color timing. Of course each would have a calibrated monitor at their respective locations. I'm thinking in today's world of filmmaking, that it does not hurt for a DP to have a budget saving program in his camera bag. John, I'm going to drive you nuts today! Con- cerning the calibrated Canon camera for Look Manager. Can the DP calibrate the camera ? Do you know if a Rebel Canon 300 digital can be used, calibrated? Have a nice weekend John! zrszach
I too was excited to read about look manager. I didn?t know you had to calibrate the camera though. ;) I have a Nikon d70 that I could use if it is correctable. It seems like it would be a dream to work with. Any info? Nate Downes
Could you work from an actual film frame, however? (I still shoot with my 35mm)

(I still shoot with my 35mm) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You'd have to scan the image to an appropriate digital format. I don't think Kodak Look Manager has LUTs and color correction matrices for still film scanners however, so there may be some "fudge factor".
