Dominic Morgan
Hi everyone, I'm really glad I found this forum and hope some of you might be able to shed light on a pair of projector lenses I picked up, along with a film joiner. Both are marked: Cinemascope Lens Attachment II. They were recovered from an old cinema. Am I right in thinking they were used to convert a 35mm into cinemascope? Are there any dealers who specialise in buying this kind of antique cinema equipment? thanks. dominic

Dominic Morgan
PS am i right in thinking you can use this Cinemascope lens, which was designed for a projector, with a film/dv camera if you have the right attachment?

Dominic Morgan
Found this snippet on the web http://www.widescreenmuseum.com/widescreen/wingcs3.htm "Marilyn is seen fondling a Bausch & Lomb Type I CinemaScope projection lens, which sold for over$2,800 per pair at a time when American G.I.s were returning from Korea and buying their first homes for $5,000. Hold on to that lens a little tighter, Marilyn!" Maybe I should be looking for a collector of old lenses...
James Steven Beverly
Scope projection lens attachments, fit onto a projector lens and are used to un-squeeze an anamorphic image. Bausch & Lomb are not the best but are usable. Isco and Schneider are the best. Some 16mm attachments CAN be used on both the camera and projector, I know, I've got an Old Delft that can be used that way, but I've never heard of 35mm attachments being used this way although the Russians had a rear anamorphic attachment for some of their zooms and square front attachments for their 2 piece OCT-18 mount and there are some attachments for some western lenses as well though they were not usable for projection either. The splicer is usable but pretty old school. They look a little long, big and heavy, probably came out of a drive in. I'm gonna get one for my dallies projector as I'm gonna shoot Blood Moon in anamorphic. These won't work because the throw is to long but you can sell them on Ebay or on 35mm collector's forum http://www.35mmforum.com/forums/index.php?showforum=1 maybe on Film-Tech.com What do you want for them? Dominic Morgan
Thanks for your input. I've been looking at some ebay listings and it looks like the cinemascope lenses go from $150-200 range though no idea whether they move at that price. I would take $100 for lens without the box and $120 for the lens with the box for a quick sale. if anyone wants both of them I can do a deal for $

Try looking on Film Tech or 35mm forum. I coulda got one for about 25 bucks, but like I said the focal length was too long. I need something that will focus on a 25 ft screen from about 50 feet away which should be about 35mm if I remember correctly. 'Course you can ask anything you want for them so list 'em and see what happens.
