Simona Analte
Hello, Ive been recently given an advice by one individual on regards of getting your foot-in the door as a camera assistant for a Production Company. What are your thoughts, and has anyone heard of anyone interning as a camera assistant full-timefor a production company? Is that a good way to go? Ive been suggested to work and save money for 6-8 month period, (money to live on), then send a package with your resume, and cover letter to the President of your chosen Production Company, stating that you wish to work for free, for half a year or so. How high are the odds of it working out? Has anyone went thought that approach, if so, what would be your comments. thank you all
Premium Member Chris Keth Posted November 25, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted November 25, 2009 I don't know of any production companies that employ ANY camera personnel on a staff basis, let alone a camera intern. To get on projects as a camera intern or trainee, it will be freelance on a film-by-film basis.
Tom Jensen
I don't know too many long term production companies. When films go into production, the company is formed and when it is over it normally dissolves. I suggest working at a rental company like Panavision or Otto Nemenz. No need to intern when you can get paid.
