Thanks. Uh, well, what do you want to shoot and what do you intend to do with the final product. THAT should be what guides the camera and format you decide on, not the initial budget. Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted February 7, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2010 Also how cheap is cheap? I mean a RED, or even a BL4 is a very cheap camera compared to a new Panavision, or an IMAX camera, or it's a very expensive camera compared to those new "flip" cameras. Premium Member George Ebersole Posted February 7, 2010 Author Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2010 Cheap as you an get without dipping into SD consumer cameras.
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted February 7, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2010 Youll probably be in the neighborhood of used DVXs, or the Canon XHA1s, which go for a few thousand new if you wanted to/needed to buy.

DVX isn't HD... You'd be better off getting a 7D or maybe an XL H1...
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted February 7, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2010 Didn't say anything about it not being an SD camera, just not a consumer SD camera. DVX is still viable for certain projects, and I would argue a lot better suited to a good deal of shooting than the 7D is. At least as far as being a one-man type band. Premium Member George Ebersole Posted February 7, 2010 Author Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. I need to buy as opposed to renting a package, because my schedule is pretty tight these days. I need something that I can keep with me in my car or pick up at home that'll give respectable image quality. I like the Canon's because of the EOS lens assortment. Thanks again.
