Premium Member Glenn Hanns Posted January 18, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted January 18, 2005 Hi, Just been asked to emulate the work of Rodrigo Prieto on 21 grams, does anyone know what process he went through(chem/optically). I thought it looked like bleachXpass in parts so I was going to shoot 18 Xpass and push 1 stop rating at 2000asa. I might run with 1/2 blackfrost as well. Any thoughts? Alvin Pingol
Rodrigo Prieto, ASC, AMC, did indeed use bleach bypass process (CCE in this case), in combination with 5289 and diffusion filters. Other stocks used include `46 and `79, whether or not those were also bleach bypassed I do not know. The `89 was rated for 1000ASA in select scenes. Ziess Ultra Primes were used (including 40mm, 32mm, 24mm, 16mm, and 14mm). There was DI for certain scenes, done by EFilm. Printed on Vision Premiere. The Dec. 2003 issue of AC discusses this, along with the many tests done beforehand to give an idea how certain lighting, wardrobe, and colors would interact with CCE. DavidSloan
Don't you hate it when a director asks you to copy some elses look! My usual reply is "get him!"
