JacobZuberi
Hey all, So I have an ARRI 35 BL 2 which currently just has the usual short eyepiece on it. It came with an extension, but I can't seem to figure it out? Any ideas on how to get it on? Cheers! Jacob
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted February 2, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted February 2, 2011 You should be able to remove the eyepiece by unscrewing the lock ring that is just behind another larger diameter ring (marked 'fix' and 'loose') that secures the eyepiece diopter adjustment. Then fit the extension, lining up its 2 keys, and lock it by tightening the lock ring again. The eyepiece then fits on the other end of the extension, which should have another lock ring. If it won't fit, post some pictures.
JacobZuberi
That's what I thought, but I can't seem to get that ring to budge at all. I obviously don't want to break it, but I'll throw some more elbow grease in there.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted February 2, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted February 2, 2011 Try warming the ring a little with a heat gun or hair dryer and then using a thin strip of rubber to grasp and turn the ring. It undoes clockwise when looking from the camera rear. When you have undone it, clean the threads and apply a thin smear of gn paste (dry molybdenum lubricant) so it won't lock up again.
