Ivan Iannoli
Anybody know of some good places to get my HD video (shot with a 5D mk ii) transferred to 16mm? I've called DVFilm and a couple other places, but it's too pricey for my student budget ($1000/3 minutes of footage, no sound). I've been told there are cheaper ways, but I haven't found anything yet. Anybody with info, I would be much obliged. Can be domestic (USA) or foreign. Maybe Canada? Thank in advance! John Woods
I havn't tried it or seen the results but Niagara Custom Lab have started offering this service for 16 & 35. They have a sample of the cost breakdown on the page by using recanned stock you can get 5 min for as low as $500 and that price includes optical sound. http://www.niagaracustomlab.com/digitaltofilm.html You could also shoot one frame at a time off a monitor. Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted February 22, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted February 22, 2011 INiagara Custom Lab have started offering this service for 16 & 35. Decent price, especially since you wind up with a negative a it would be cheap to make multiple prints from it vs. a single digital film positive output that could cost twice as much... but I do wonder about the quality. Wouldn't digital projection make more sense? You could rent a theatre for what it would cost for a film out...
