Ram Ganesh
What's TV like in India? Could it be that the audience there goes to the movies instead of watching TV? How do movie ticket prices compare with TV set prices?-- J.S. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Vernacular* TV sitcoms are full of heavy sentimental family drama(tear jerkers) and re-re-run of old/new movies and songs(a big attraction) [* Each state in India speak a different language, as an anology here, Californian's cannot understand/read/write whats spoken in Oregon or Arizona.] Video piracy is rampant - ppl basically like to sit in home and watch movies. So to lure the public, cinema halls HAVE TO show technological advances to beat piracy. Hence techology catches up very fast. For example: 'We have latest DTS Soundbox from U.S.A' or 'Only theater with Full Digital Projection' Ticket prices are abt $1-2 and TV set costs $100-300. $1-2 is a considerable amount, as an average worker earns $50-200/month
Matt Pacini
You can try to pick apart my arguments all you want, but the fact that theaters all over the world FILL UP TO CAPACITY with no problem at all, with projected 35mm prints, is evidence that what I'm saying is true.
