gregory mandry
I have a client wanting to use prime lenses with the DVW 790 camera i know the natural for 16mm film is around 16mm lens and for 35mm film the 28 or 35mm lens. but what is it for a digi beta? Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted February 22, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted February 22, 2005 If you're talking about the focal length for "normal" perspective, it's around 35mm-40mm in 35mm, 16mm-20mm in 16mm -- 2/3" CCD is slightly smaller than a 16mm frame, so perhaps 12mm-16mm for that. I think that's a little wider than what you're looking for. If you want to match the horizontal field of view of a 16mm lens on 16mm film, then you'll want about a 13mm on digibeta. In any case, 2/3" video uses focal lengths just slightly shorter than standard 16mm for the same field of view (and similar d.o.f). Are you planning on using HD primes (preserving the field of view), or an intermediate adapter like the P+S Technic Pro35 to use 35mm lenses (giving you a 35mm field of view)?
