Newbie to Bolex: Rewinding.

Hi,

I just got a Bolex H16 REX1 which I tested and found to be working. However, I am not sure about the rewind function. I would like to do dissolves and things like that but I don't know if the rewind is working properly or I am not doing something right.

 

My camera is only equipped with one knob for the 100-1000 frame counter and another for the 0-50 counter. I should also mention i don't have the rewind crank.

 

When i disengage the motor and rewind back nothing in the transport seems to be moving (when viewed with the film chamber cover open). Should I be seeing the transport moving backwards or forwards? The only thing that happens is the frame counter moves.

You need the crank to turn the center shaft.

Turning the small knobs only resets the frame counter.
