Markus Ottosson
Hi I bought a Paillard Bolex H16 a while ago that does not look quite like any other, seems like someone has modified some extra accessory to it. Here are som pictures A closer look The darker part of the "disk" is magnetic. And this is connected the "thing" I've also uploaded a video so you can see how it works Bolex H16 - YouTube Anybody have a clue? I'm new to these kind of cameras so I have no idea. The magnet likely acts on a reed switch which will close once every 8 frames. It might be to control an external digital frame counter but it wouldn't be very accurate. Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted June 2, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted June 2, 2012 At a guess it's a home-made tachometer, probably used to set the speed as accurately as possible. With each revolution of the disc (8 frames) the magnet will trigger a switch to create a pulse, so exactly 2 pulses per second is 16 fps, 3 pulses per second and you're at 24 fps. Presumably there was a readout box that the plug fitted into.
