Zoom sticking on Bauer 8e

Hi There!

 

 

The zoom is really sticking on my Bauer 8E. It sounds like something grinding around in there-- has anyone else had this problem? If I apply tension with my hand (squeezing the area around the zoom-ring slightly) it is easier to move, but still sticks somewhat.

 

I am wondering how difficult it might be to take apart the lens and figure out if it needs lubrication or what but I don't want to break anything.

 

The problem is inconsistent and may be related to the macro setting.

 

Perhaps it is hopeless, if the plastic has deteriorated.
